Southwestern France's Cahors region is the home of Malbec. Long overshadowed by its neighbor Bordeaux where Malbec is a minor player as a blending grape, Cahors has more recently been overshadowed by Argentina. Nevertheless, Cahors produces very good value, typically Malbec based wines which tend to be under appreciated. This is a lighter alternative to the usually full bodied Argentine Malbecs. Medium to full bodied with flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum and a touch of cinnamon with soft tannins. Enjoy on its own or with pizza, burgers, steaks or pasta marinara.
