Francois Villard owns and operates a small vineyard in France's northern Rhone Valley the home to perhaps the world's best Syrahs. Syrah is the only red wine produced in this part of France where it's produced in such highly regarded, if lesser known areas as Cornas, St. Joseph and Crozes Hermitage. If you are used to jammy, high alcohol Shiraz, this medium to light bodied red will surprise you. Flavors and aromas of white pepper, anise and plum, pairs well with beef, poultry and sausages.
